Lines
GRAFIS works with the construction objects point and line. The Line tool creates a single line object in one of the listed construction variants.
General step-by-step guide
-
Select tool from the Toolbar.
-
Activate / deactivate autostart
and
cyclic
in the
context bar
. - assign values if required
- if
autostart
active: adjust construction interactively - if
cyclic
active: execute construction again
click objects
- Set the starting point with the sub-menu point construction
- Set the end point with the sub-menu point construction .
The new line is constructed from a point with a direction.

-
Align the line with the sub-menu direction construction (set basic direction, set difference direction)
The new line is constructed as a horizontal line from a point. The end point of the line is determined by the x co-ordinate of the second base point.

The new line is constructed as a vertical line from a point. The end point of the line is determined by the y co-ordinate of the second base point.

perpendicular
The new line is constructed as a perpendicular line from a point onto a line. After having activated the function, the starting point is to be determined, first. Then the line onto which the perpendicular is to be dropped must be clicked. The perpendicular takes on a right angle to the clicked line.

- Set the starting point with the sub-menu point construction
- click the line onto which the perpendicular is to be dropped.
Functions of the context bar
If this button is active, the drag points of the active construction can be adjusted. Depending on the drag area, different drag points are available.
With this function, an existing displacement line can be deselected or a new displacement line can be selected . If the function is active, the points / lines for which a displacement line can be selected or deselected are marked. The cursor symbol indicates whether a displacement line already exists
or not
. Any line of the active part can be selected as displacement line. The right principle must be considered, as this determines the move direction.
The function cutting line is only active for the type line with direction . Having selected the cutting line, the new line does not have a given length; it is extended to or cut off at the cutting line. Clicking on
switches to the mode for selection of the cutting line. A set cutting line can be deselected in this mode.
An interactive line of the type
line from point to point
or
line with direction
can be switched to the other type at any time after calling. Clicking on one of the two buttons in the
context bar
starts the click process where either the
end point
(for
switch type: point to point
) or the direction (for
switch type: with direction
) must be re-defined. The original
starting point
is always transferred during type switch.
With click new, the entire click process is gone through again. The basic elements of the active function, e.g. points, lines, directions are queried one after another. You can decide separately for each basic element whether to retain it or set it again. A right click accepts the original position/ setting.
In this way the starting point of a line with direction can be accepted for example but the direction can be defined again.
options
Base points are objects (points or lines) which are linked to the construction. base points can usually be moved along their base line or their displacement line.
If the first variation of this option is active, the base points can only be moved along the displacement line. If the second variation is active, the point can also be moved at a right angle to the displacement line.
This option determines whether the relocation of the base points along the displacement line is measured in mm or in %. If a fixed value in mm has been given for the base size, the option can be switched to % later to achieve a proportional grading.
This option is only active for the line type 'point to point'. Here, you can additionally switch between the line types , and .
This option is only active for the line type 'point to point'. The new line can additionally be rotated about the starting point.
With this option, the rotation can be set in ° or in mm. A rotation in mm refers to the circle arc, described by the end point. With this option, the behaviour in other sizes must be considered.
